Tutorial video clip of TMJ Arthrocentesis being carried out by Dr. Benjamin Jacobs on me (Dr. Adam Hershkin) on 5/11/2011. As an oral as well as maxillofacial cosmetic surgeon who suffers from advanced TMJ illness, I remain in a distinct position to experience the signs and symptoms in addition to the treatments that I carry out for my individuals. This extremely simple treatment clears out the inflamed joint and also leads to immediate renovation suffering and function. I chose to be wide awake for this to make sure that I would certainly obtain the full experience. Lots of people choose to be asleep for this to guarantee complete convenience. See my blog site at www.oralfacialsurgeon.com/blog for blog posts concerning my post-procedure program.

I use Botox quite a bit to tread TMJD but not for the same
symptoms/diagnoses as I had that required this procedure. I generally use
Botox for muscular pain and dysfunction. Specifically for people with
uncontrollable clenching, grinding or spasm in the masticatory muscles. In
doses below the threshold for complete paralysis the Botox will weaken
these powerful chewing muscles and force them to relax. It also has some
analgesic properties as well. Finally, certain headaches respond well too

The diagnosis for this particular case was TMJ sprain/strain with
arthralgia/synovitis. Since I was the patient I can accurately describe the
symptoms. I specifically recalled the actual sprain or strain in which I
felt a crack with searing pain exactly in the joint area. I attempted more
conservative treatment for 4 or 6 weeks – 1) no chew diet; 2) ice & range
of motion exercises; 3) heat/massage; 4) NSAIDs on a schedule. Previous
panorex, cone beam CT and MRI showed degenerative joint disease

I do not use the Piper (or any other) classification system. Actually I
don’t like to classify patients at all aside from determining whether the
problem lies within the joint, in the musculature or elsewhere. There are
so many factors that play a role in TMJ disorders that I don’t like to try
to fit them into a pre-conceived class. Virtually all patients respond to
conservative therapy of some sort. This procedure is useful only in
    patients who have intra-articular pathosis.

Thank you, Dr. Karna, for your interest and for your excellent questions. I
can see that you must treat a lot of patients with these issues as well.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and/or experience regarding this procedure.

Hey! Thank you for this useful video. By the way, I hear many people keep
on talking about Temojolax Remedy (just google it), but I’m not sure if it
is good. Have you ever tried home remedy called Temojolax Remedy? I’ve
heard several incredible things about it and my buddy completely cure his
    TMJ safely with this remedy.

Is this typically done under light IV sedation, or can it be done with
    local anasthesia only?

    • Laura Eager

      May 5, 2015 at 2:52 am

I’d want to be sedated for this procedure but to each one’s own!

+Georgia Starr You need to realize that for some people ( especially people
like me) the only option to stop TMJ is surgery.

(search on google)? It is a good exclusive product for curing the TMJ
disorder without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it

Read about T-Scan and watch videos on Disclusion Time Reduction. Find a
dentist who does it and get checked for whether it can help you.
