I feel for anyone having TMJ pain. Most of the surgeries cause nerve
damage. My last TMJ surgery was 2001 with a metal & polymer joint
replacement. Not only do I have severe TMJ pain but nerve pain & migraine
headaches. I pray that anyone thinking about TMJ surgery, please get a
second & third opinion before making a decision. I hope no one else has to
go through this horrible pain. Best wishes and prayers for you!!

After spending half my life with this annoying and often painful condition,
I would jump at a chance to have surgery. I only just found out what the
    problem is!

this video was not at all helpful in helping me decide if tmj surgery is
right for me there is no information from the surgeon performing the
operation or what there doing just some cheesy jamaican halloween music on
repeat. if there are any videos out there that actualy explain the
procedure and what to expect after please post them. for those that are
suffering from tmj and dealing with pain if anyone knows of any source of
information that is reliable and informative please post a link .

Ive had 2 of these surgeries. basically all they do is go into the joint
scrape down any scar tissue and suck out any broken bone debrie. if your
tmj specialist hasn’t explained it to you than you need to switch who you
see. the surgery gives you pain relief for 2-5 years. I now need a complete
    jaw replacement.

+Missy Currier I’m watching this because I’ve been told my only hope is
reconstruction or replacement. I have JRA and am now 21. Any info you can
shoot my way would be much appreciated!

my daughter just had the joint replacement surgery in St. Louis. Long
surgery but she is in little pain and home on day 3 for recovery. Most
insurance doesn’t pay so it;s a big bill. Hopefully she will be like normal
      after this!

As with any surgery there is some discomfort after surgery. I found that
when I kept ice on it and followed my doctors orders for taking the pain
meds and ibuprofen the pain level was little to none. Within 2 weeks I had
full range of motion back and no pain. But everyone is different. I was
vaccumming 3 days after a total hysterectomy, so maybe I just have a higher
pain tolerance and healing process. I don’t know. I do know that having the
surgery was the best decision I made. I could barely open my mouth wide
enough to brush my teeth. When I did the noise that my jaw my was so loud
and gross people around me cringed. Choose your surgeon wisely. Mine was
awesome. I had no visible scars and minimal bruising. Good luck.

Why do so many doctors put crappy music over the surgery videos. WE WANT TO
HEAR AN EXPLAINATION OF THE SURGERY!!!! Some of us really want to learn
and without being able to hear you work that is really difficult.

      April 11, 2016 at 8:15 pm

I have tmj and I’ve had braces. It doesn’t fix anything having braces. All
braces do is straighten your teeth. Tmj is where your jaw is messed up.
      Braces won’t fix your problem.
