Temporomandibular. The name comes from the two bones (temporal bone and the
mandible (lower jaw)) that make up the joint.

TMJ is short for “temporomandibular joint,” which is the joint that gets
temporomandibular disorder (TMD). Some people incorrectly use “TMJ” to
      refer to TMD.

I hate being a TMJD patient. I’m only 19, and i started having the symptoms
4 years ago. I ignored it until last year and i was told to start treatment
right away. I was planning to take musical theater in college but now i
cant until i finish treatment. My doctors had told my parents that it could
happen that my jaw will lock in the middle of a performance and by that
time, i could need surgery. My advice to anyone is to never ignore pain —
take time to go for a check-up. Many things can be affected, like in my
case, i had pretty much my life planned out but had to take a detour.

    I’m now 27 y/o and I experienced this symptoms when I was 1st yr.
highschool(14 yrs. ago). It was terrible because not many people are aware
of TMD. I only found out that what I was experiencing was TMJ symptoms 3
yrs. ago.I even thought I had a brain tumor just because headache was
unbearable.Even my parents thought I was just pretending to have those
symptoms. My study was greatly affected. I wore splint for 3 years, 24
hours straight(even in school). Now I only wear it at bedtime. Now I’m
enjoying life more than ever but I still have to chew properly(up-down
motion not circling motion). It was a burden lift off my head. Like an
epiphany. I have to save money for teeth brace for a permanent solution for
    my jaw problem
. Thanks to this show Koreans and non-korean viewers will be aware of this
    disorder

mouth or if you suddenly have headaches, you could have a temporomandibular
joint disorder. Find out about the symptoms of TMD and learn good habits to
